John had a bit of book writing business in Cardiff- photos etc…so we decided a quick trip was required. The company ‘Secret Escapes’ had a good deal on in what used to be The Radisson Blu and is now The Majestic. There are several advantages to this hotel…..firstly although you have to pay for it, it has parking in an underground secure hotel only parking……secondly it is about 40/50 metres from John Lewis which is situated at one end of the main indoor shopping mall,,,,,,,thirdly there are loads of restaurants in various price ranges within an easy stroll,,,,fourthly and probably most importantly for John it over looks the railway line so he can see the trains from the window if he can’t be bothered to walk to the station which is only 100 meters away….So a great choice of hotels at a reasonable price with breakfast included ..£255 for two nights

We arrived mid afternoon and even though we were well before check-in time we were allowed to go straight to our room. The lifts were swift and efficient and the room was pretty much the norm…aircon, large bed, bar fridge, hair dryer, ironing board, big TV, nice en-suite etc….
John went straight to the station and I went into the shopping mall I search of a few summer dresses to take on our hols…but alas I found nothing that pleased me…but I still clocked up nearly 10,000 steps …so all was good -exercise complete and wallet also complete 🤣🤣 The town was very busy and we later found out that Katy Perry was playing at The Castle and Lewis Capaldi was playing at Black Weir…..two big acts…no wonder Cardiff was packed with people….
In the evening we decided to go to The Ivy – Asian….a really nice restaurant. Before 6.30pm they do a Jade Garden Special for £28.99 per person…but watch out they charge extra for the nibbles

And for the rice …

…and for the dessert..

A bit naughty as they appear on the set meal menu but in very small print it does state the extra prices…which I had pointed out to me when I queried the bill 🤣
However, the starters and the main course were really good…

The service was excellent and the decor quite unique..

A really enjoyable meal in a quite luxurious place well worth the reasonably high price tag…
The following morning after breakfast, which was buffet style, we headed off in the car up the valleys. We stopped where John needed photos before heading back to the hotel mid-afternoon. Once again John went on to the station while I took my exercise through the shopping mall to the far end, this time in search of a suitable birthday card for our daughter-in-law who turns 50 in a weeks time…..mission accomplished I returned to the hotel to watch England V Panama in the World Cup…..John joined me part way through the match and together we encouraged them🤣🤣 After the match we wandered toWetherspoons for a cheap and cheerful meal.
In the morning we once again enjoyed a breakfast before heading for home..we arrived home early afternoon..John happy with the photos he had taken for the next book…a nice couple of nights away…Thank You Cardiff.
